Are You Exhausted or Fatigued?

It may never have occurred to you that the root cause of many of your health and emotional issues may simply be that you’re depleted in energy. Yet, according to the 5000 year old Taoist approach to health, this would be the most obvious answer.

What’s great about this? You may have got to the point where you’re overwhelmed with all the different symptoms and issues that you’re noticing, and even more confused with all the diagnoses and recommendations you’ve come across. Maybe you’re so sick of hearing contradictory information it just makes you want to give up on the whole thing and eat ice cream?

But maybe it’s actually about a million times simpler than what everyone would have you believe. Maybe you just need to build up your reserves of energy and then your body can heal itself, or at least respond a great deal more favourably to any other health steps you need to take, like a detox or fast. How many times have you done a cleanse only to feel even more drained or exhausted by the end? It’s time to build up your reserves first.

So how about you? Is your energy depleted? In fact, could you be suffering from the early warning signs of exhaustion without realising it? Or, are you perhaps trying to heal your depleted energy by doing cleanses, exercise regimes and restricted diets, only to find that they don’t help, or are making things worse?

It can be very useful and enlightening to complete a questionnaire to assess how depleted you are in energy. Just remember, there’s no bad results. If you’re more exhausted than you thought, it’s time to stop punishing yourself, and give yourself a break. Realise that you’ve been doing an extraordinary job just keeping yourself going, and now may be the perfect time to really honour and value your own needs. You’re worth it.

Add up your total score out of 70. What your score means:

If you scored between 0 and 10: Full Tank

Congratulations, you are already fairly or even very healthy. I would suspect that either you’ve already done some work on your health, or you’re fairly young, or you’re one of the lucky few who naturally have an abundance of reserve energy. You would benefit from increasing your energy, as you can’t have too much energy in reserve, but it’s not a necessity, you’ll get on just fine for a while yet.

If you scored between 11 and 30: Time for a Refill

You will definitely benefit from restoring your reserves of energy. You may find that a lot of problems that have frustrated you for years are resolved by tackling the root of the problem. A complete recovery of your energy to what it was at the peak of your life and beyond is definitely possible.

If you scored over 30: Running on Empty

Your recovery may take longer than a few months, but I promise you that to restore yourself to your former state of vitality and energy is possible, but it may take up to a year. However think how extraordinary it is that you can undo a lifetime of depletion in as little as a year, with the right approach and the right support.
